A little bit about me
I have been working with young children for over 30 years. In addition to raising two boys, I am a social skills teacher, special educator, parent-consultant, and girl-empowerment facilitator. I run social skills programs and provide 1:1 services for children ages 3 – 10, and offer a variety of educator workshops. I thrive on in-person sessions with kids both in the school and home setting. Throughout the pandemic I developed new techniques to engage children remotely, including using puppets, magnet boards, felt stories, and games. At this time, I am continuing to successfully work with children 1:1 and in small groups via interactive Zoom sessions. This hybrid approach allows me to work in my new neighborhood on the upper east side in New York City and also with children and families in other locations.
Throughout my experience with children I have taken on many roles, including:
— Co-founder: Confident Kid Club
— Founder: Confident Girl Enrichment Program
— Head preschool and integrated classroom teacher
— Head teacher, self-contained classroom
— SEIT (Special Education Itinerant Teacher)
— Mommy and Me group facilitator
— Soccer coach
An authentic love of young children — and for growing and learning with them — fuels my enthusiasm and passion as an early childhood and elementary school educator. And I believe that a combination of factors, including family, community, and schools, contribute to helping children reach their full potential.
Personal connection and trust are everything! An expertise in the areas of child development, emotional intelligence, behavior management, mindfulness, and consultation allows me to establish a strong rapport with young children. By recognizing and respecting different learning styles, I leverage each child’s strengths, building their confidence and ability to succeed. To this I add thoughtful and sustained communication with parents to reinforce new skills at home and in community settings.
In 2010, I co-founded Confident Kid Club, an innovative social-skills program in Westchester County, New York. Confident Kid Club started with just four children and quickly grew to more than 60 children over the next ten years. This multi-sensory, play-based program served children ages 3 – 10 in both small, individualized groups, and through 1:1 services. Confident Kid Club partnered with local Pelham programs and received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the southern Westchester community. I am excited to build on the success of Confident Kid Club to meet the needs of children, families, and educators in these trying and unprecedented times.
In 2013, I launched my first Confident Girl enrichment programs in elementary schools and for Girl Scout troops. These “girl power” programs address the complicated social world of elementary school by helping girls develop self-awareness, social-awareness, and resiliency. Some of my hobbies: — Bird watching — Making jams and pickles — Reading (I have way too many books on my nightstand!) — Visiting the library.
I also love Children’s books! I believe creativity increases problem solving, reduces stress, promotes positive risk-taking, and gives a sense of accomplishment and pride. I’m a lifelong learner and frequently attend programs related to emotional intelligence, mindfulness. and positive psychology. I am a big advocate of developing a “growth mindset,” so here are a few things I can’t do (yet!): juggle, play the ukulele and surf.

Testimonials

Katharine reaches children with unique and innovative ideas tailored to individual learning styles. She develops outstanding rapports with children, families, and educators. In turn, visioning a creative pathway of developing skills and open communication.
I consider Katharine Page a Master Educator and Visionary for creating programs for children of all needs seeking solutions, peace, and balance in their lives.
Katharine began working with my five-year old daughter two months ago. I was looking for someone to help her with executive functioning and self-regulation skills. Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic Katharine was not able to work with my daughter in person so we began virtual sessions via Zoom. I must say that from the very first session, Katharine ensured that my daughter was engaged and motivated in a fun way while taking into account her interests. Katharine has been addressing areas of difficulty for my daughter in every session while using evidence-based practices; she helps her understand target concepts in a way that is child friendly and fun. We do see all the skills she has been working on generalizing into our day-to-day life. I am seeing so much growth in my daughter’s social emotional skills, and we are able to implement the strategies Katharine teaches us. I must say that my daughter looks forward to having zooms with Katharine every week. Katharine is warm, engaging, kind, fun and so knowledgeable. We are so very grateful to have her work with us and we wished we met her sooner!
Katharine is a devoted and talented educator with uniquely effective strategies for enriching children’s experiences. She is able to meet individual needs, and to help children develop kindness, confidence, respect, and social skills. Her love for children is evident. I have had the pleasure of observing Katharine work with children and always come away feeling inspired. Katharine maintains a positive and enthusiastic approach to children’s development that is both empowering for them and informative to other educators. Having Katharine in the room raises the value of the experience for everyone.
Katharine regularly took time out of her day to communicate with me so that I was comfortable with the next steps and ultimate objectives for my son. She explained in great detail how to carryover techniques at home and had frequent conversations with my son’s therapists to make sure everyone was working as a unit. The results were astounding. We have worked with a lot of therapists but none of them have shown the dedication and caring that we saw with Katharine.
In one short year, Katharine single-handedly taught our son skills that triggered an enormous growth in his cognitive and motor abilities, as well as his self esteem. In the same short year, she taught us how to encourage and work with him. Most important, she gave all of us an enormous infusion of hope — quite realistic hope — for our son’s future.
I have worked with Katharine in my capacity as a Psychologist and CPSE Chairperson and have been impressed by her professionalism, knowledge and genuine concern for the children she has worked with. She has an excellent understanding of the educational and social needs of children, and the ability to express her ideas cogently and literally.
Katharine has a passion for working with young children and demonstrates a genuine commitment to the field of special education. She is incredibly supportive of all children, encouraging them to take risks, while offering an environment of safety, caring and unlimited possibilities. She has been highly recommended by parents of her former students and we are fortunate to have her as a part of our preschool community.
